The New Year Celebrated with Poetry

REadings from dawn to dusk in Gröndal's house on New Year's Day

For the fifth year in a row, the new year in Reykjavík starts with live poetry readings. From the first twilight in the morning to the second twilight of the year 2022, between 10 am and 5 pm, poets will read in Gröndal's House, hosted by the Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature. 

These poets will perfom, and possibly more are still to be added to the list:

Anne Carson, Ásta Fanney, Bragi Valdimar Skúlason, Bergsveinn Birgisson, Brynja Hjálmsdóttir, Eiríkur Guðmundsson, Eva Rún Snorradóttir, Gerður Kristný, Guðrún Hannesdóttir, Hanna Óladóttir, Haukur Ingvarsson, Ingólfur Eiríksson, Jakub Stachowiak, Jón Kalman Stefánsson, Kári Túliníus, Meg Matich, Natasha Stolyarova, Nína Hjördís Þorkelsdóttir, Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson, Soffía Bjarnadóttir, Tómas Ævar Ólafsson, Þórarinn Eldjárn, Þórdís Helgadóttir and Þórunn Jarla Valdimarsdóttir.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic and its current status in Iceland, the house will be closed for guests, but instead the event will be streamed on the City of Literature's Facebook site and on the website of the National Broadcasting Company of Iceland, ruv.is

Space is therefore unlimited and we welcome you all to tune in to wath and listen from wherever you may be. 

Most of the readings will be in Icelandic.
