Arndís Þórarinsdóttir

Bio

Poet and translator Arndís Þórarinsdóttir was born in Reykjavík on the 21st of December 1982, she lives and works in Reykjavík. Arndís has an undergraduate degree in comparative literature and a postgraduate degree in Creative Writing, from the University of Iceland, and another postgraduate degree in Writing for Performance, from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Arndís has had various theatre jobs and has worked as a journalist and librarian. From the year 2018 she has concentraded on writing. Arndís has written several books for the Directorate of Education in Iceland, among them chapter books for children and youngsters. Arndís has been active in various projects concerning childrens literature and reading.

Arndís has received literary prizes for her books, in 2020 she, with Hulda Sigrún Bjarnadóttir, reiceved the Icelandic Literature Prize in the category of books for children and young adults, for the novel Blokkin á heimsenda (The Apartment Building at the End of the World), and Guðrún Helgadóttir Children's Books Literature Prize in the same year.
